Welcome to Tallinn
Welcome to Tallinn!
In 2011, Tallinn carries the title of the European Capital of Culture. The cultural life is diverse in the capital of Estonia and provides events both for music and art aficionados. Look around in the numerous art galleries of Tallinn and don't forget to visit the KUMU art museum in Kadriorg. You should definitely stop by the art galleries at the newly renovated Freedom Square (Vabaduse väljak) and drop by the recently opened Ahaa Science Centre in the ‘cellar' of the Freedom Square (especially when travelling with children). Solaris Entertainment Centre is home to the Nokia Concert Hall, the most modern concert hall in the Nordic countries that features a wide-ranging programme, including many performances by recognised international stars. Friends of ethno music are invited to attend the "World Village" ("Maailmaküla") festival in mid-June in the romantic ruins of the Pirita Convent. Traditional Old Town Days will be held in the beginning of June when the old streets will be full of cheerful celebration. And don't forget a walk in the fabulous Old Town. Be sure to visit the excellent restaurants and cosy cafés of Tallinn, and enjoy what the pubs, lounges and wine chambers can offer you. We recommend to take your time and nourish your body and soul in the modern spas of Tallinn and its surroundings. Find something uniquely Estonian in the shops to remind you of your visit to Tallinn. If you happen to visit Tallinn at the end of June, you will be able to participate in Estonia's biggest holiday - Midsummer Day and Victory Day, where people all over the country light hundreds of thousands of bonfires. We wish you interesting and memorable experiences in Tallinn and hope to see you here again soon!
